HUNDRED THOUGHTS PRESCHOOL’S CURRICULUM
At our preschool, we aim to provide children with joyful and enriching experience in their preschool education and prepare them for a journey towards life-long learning. Our emergent curriculum builds upon the interest of children, with teachers facilitating the children’s learning and encouraging them to take an active role in constructing their own ideas and knowledge. Our teachers also encourage the children to use many different ways to show their understanding and express their thoughts and creativity.
We believe that children are the driving force behind what they learn. We emphasise on hands-on discovery learning that allows the children to use all their senses and languages to learn. Children are believed to have a hundred different ways of thinking, of discovering and learning and can express themselves through painting, drawing, modelling, sculpturing, dance and movement, imaginative play, music, friendship, poetry and song-creation.
Our curriculum equips our children with knowledge, skills and dispositions through :
- Outdoor Explorations
- Character Building
- Aesthetics and Creative Art
- Discovery of the World
- Language & Literacy
- Fine and Gross Motor Skills Development
- Early Numeracy
- Self and Social Awareness
Our curriculum builds a child’s character based on the concept of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery. This philosophy encourages children discover their own personalities, and learn how to play with their strengths, instead of being forced into a “mold” for the world. The importance of life-long learning is encapsulated in the acronym, “PRAISE” which stands for Perseverance, Reflectiveness, Appreciation, Inventiveness, Sense of wonder and curiosity and Engagement. Children will develop learning dispositions which encompass positive behaviour and attitude towards learning.
GYM AND CODING
Our curriculum includes GYMNASTIC classes in a safe and comfortable environment that facilitates physical development of our children at their own pace. In our school, we inculcate creative mindsets and critical thinking to our children via CODING classes. Classes are taught using easy-to-use coding robots that are suitable for children aged 3 years and above. Through music composition and other key lessons, coding helps to expand our children’s imagination and teach them problem-solving and pattern recognition skills, amongst others.
Hundred Thoughts Preschool also provides Chinese curriculum immersion. Our Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum allows our children to learn in fun and meaningful ways by exploring through poems, songs, rhymes, stories, dramatisations and hands-on activities. Our children will be able to build their language ability and develop their proficiency in Mandarin through listening, speaking, reading and writing, recognising Chinese characters.
